David Sharp
Hello! I'm David, and this is where I'm going to put all the cool stuff I do. There are millions of Davids in the world. It's time to see what makes me a little different. Lots of interesting things coming soon!
I'm currently working for the Dragon team at SpaceX in Cape Canaveral! I recently graduated with a masters in aerospace engineering from the University of Michigan and before that bachelors also in aerospace engineering from UC San Diego. I must like aerospace. I have done research in structural and mechanical engineering, and worked as a graduate student instructor for a space mission design class. I have spent the last few years launching balloons, building squishy robots, obliterating things with an air cannon, designing a remote water level sensor, and doing pages and pages of math in the library at 2:00am while imbibing all of the caffeine in sight. Oh, and building spaceships. If any of this sounds interesting to you, you should check out my research page.
Outside of the office and the classroom, I have built a website for a team studying hepatocellular carcinoma, and I worked on a team designing an emergency ventilator system. I also sent a camera to 85,000ft by strapping it to a weather balloon and chasing it halfway across Southern California.
Wow! What a view. It was totally worth almost dying to recover the camera. Also, in your face flat earth society!
Of course, I'm always working on new projects, and have even more planned for the future. If you want to check out more of what I do, go over to my projects page.
As you probably guessed from that absolutely stunning photo, I am also really into photography. I use a Nikon D7000 and a GoPro Hero9 for most of my shooting, with some phone camera photos mixed in. Like many photographers, I tend to get a little behind on editing and publishing, but if you want to see my most recent stuff, check out the gallery tab. Keep in mind, if you don't, this seagull I found will stare at you in silent judgement.
No you are NOT getting my potato chips.
Any of my photos without people in them are free to use. If you would like to use one of the shots with a person in it, please email me for permission. If you would like to collaborate, or do a photoshoot you are welcome to reach out.
There is a decent chance you are here from me giving you my website or submitting it to a job application. If you like what you see, and you have a job opportunity available, please consider hiring me. I have a very diverse background built up from unique experiences and hard work. Take a look at the resume page to learn more about me.
Anyway, that's me,
